The DATS Program Cost Breakdown

At DATS, it's our goal to offer comprehensive dental assistant training that is affordable for you. We know you're looking to start a brand new career, and we want to put you on the fastest, most successful path towards that goal. That's why we're upfront about every cost associated with our program, and it's also why we partner with a number of tuition support programs. Here's a breakdown of the total cost of attending DATS:

Total Program Cost: $3,500

  • Tuition: $2,800
  • Books & Materials: $700
What is included in the materials fee?

The $700 fee for books and materials covers:

  • The cost of all of the books you'll need for the program
  • All the disposable supplies you'll need to use throughout the program
  • A set of scrubs. You are expected to wear the provided scrubs to each class.
When is my tuition due?

Your payment for the total cost of the program is to be made in full 10 days ahead of your first class. If you're concerned about making the full payment at that time, you may contact the admissions department to discuss a potential payment arrangement.

Are there any additional fees?

When you graduate from the Dental Assistant Training Schools, you will have satisfied the requirements necessary to apply to take the approved Radiation Health and Safety (RHS®) exam, administered by Dental Assistant National Board (DANB®). Students in Virginia may elect to take a separate Dental Radiation Safety Seminar offered by one of the community colleges instead.

No matter which option you choose, there is a separate cost to take these tests. Your DATS instructor will provide any information about these tests during your course.

To hold your spot in your preferred DATS location and course, we require a tuition deposit of $800 at the time of enrollment. $100 of that deposit is non-refundable, should you choose not to attend your dental assistant training course.

Withdrawals & Refunds

Dental Assistant Training Schools require an initial tuition deposit of $800 at the time of your enrollment. The enrollment agreement is a legally binding instrument upon the school's written acceptance of your application for admission.
  • What if something happens to the school?

      If a DATS location closes, cancels, or changes a program of study or location in such a way that a student is unable to complete training, the school will make arrangements in a timely manner to accommodate any student affected by the cancellation or change. If we are unable to make alternative arrangements that are satisfactory to the student, the school will refund all money paid by the student for the program.

      If the school closes, cancels, changes, or relocates a program in such a way that is not satisfactory to the student, the school will refund all money paid by the student, including the $100 registration fee.

  • How long will my refund take?

      Any refund due to a student shall be based on the date of withdrawal or termination. That is the last date of attendance by the student. Refunds will be paid within 60 days from the date of withdrawal or termination in the state of Maryland, and 45 days from the date of withdrawal or termination in the state of Virginia.

  • Extenuating circumstances

      In the case of an extenuating circumstance, the Regional Director will consider a settlement that is reasonable and fair to both the student and the school.

What if I decide DATS isn't right for me,
and I’m enrolled in a Maryland location?

Students may cancel the enrollment agreement by written notice at any time within seven (7) calendar days after signing the contract for a full refund of all monies paid.

DATS Maryland Late Withdrawal

If withdrawal occurs seven (7) calendar days after signing the original contract and prior to the first class, all monies will be refunded, except the registration fee of $100.

Maryland Tuition Circumstances

Tuition for students who elect to withdraw or are terminated from the program after class has started will be refunded or pro-rated according to these calculations. Book & material fees are non-refundable once class has started.
